This year’s Canoe Journey, The Paddle to Nisqually attracted the largest gathering of participating tribes in the history of the event. The slogan was ‘Don’t forget the water.’
As history was made with our coastal relatives, we see parallels with the events at Standing Rock with water again the central theme.
Coastal communities from all corners answered the call. They may have thought their canoes were mothballed for another year but prophecy said otherwise.
Our friend, the revered Puyallup tribal elder and indigenous rights activist, Nancy Shippentower, shared with us her live streams from this amazing event.
