Victory? DAPL Permit Denied/EIS Granted

In a surprise announcement, the Army Corps of Engineers (ACoE) announced that they were going to deny the easement wanted by Energy Transfer Partners so their Dakota Access Pipeline project can bore through the bed of Lake Ohae.

They also announced an intent to start the process for an Environmental Impact Statement. (EIS)

The dubious timing had nothing to do with the escalating tensions between the camps, tribe and local and state authorities.   It also had nothing to do with the arrival of over 10,000 battle hardened military veterans after Gov. Dalrymple issued an emergency evacuation order for the Oceti Sakowin camp.

No, none at all.  We’ll see the veracity of the announcement of an EIS in the weeks leading up to President-Elect Trump’s inauguration.
